WHAT IS ZENTANGLE?

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn way to make beautiful images by drawing repeating lines and patterns. Anyone can use the process to create stunning pieces. You do not have to have artistic experience.  In fact, even if you think you cannot draw you can do this!  Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on each stroke and not worry about the result.  Each pattern is made up of a predefined sequence of simple strokes that make up a pattern.  You don’t have to know how it will turn out.  You just concentrate on the strokes and the result is a wonderful surprise!  That is why the founders of Zentangle, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, say “Anything is possible one stroke at a time!”

The amazing part of the Zentangle method of drawing is, for me, the meditative benefits.  By slowing down and focusing on each stroke your breathing changes, you mind calms, and you enter a state of relaxed mindfulness.  Zentangle has helped many people who might not otherwise be able to clear their minds.  It’s been noted that cancer patients have used Zentangle as a way to relax during chemotherapy treatments.  You can learn more about the Zentangle method at Zentangle.com.
